![Perhaps the greatest evidence that Jesus was actively spreading the message that He was God in the flesh is revealed when the high priest urges Him by saying, “…tell us if You are the Messiah, the Son of God!” [Matt 26:63].
“You have said it,” Jesus told him. “But I tell you, in the future you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of the Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.” Matthew 26:64
This terminology is clearly taken from Daniel’s prophecy (cf. Matt 24:30–31). As a response to this, “the high priest tore his robes and said, ‘He has blasphemed! Why do we still need witnesses? Look, now you’ve heard the blasphemy! What is your decision?’ They answered, ‘He deserves death!’” [Matt 26:65–66].
So, has Jesus spoken the words “I am God, worship me!”? Most likely not, for “the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life—a ransom for many” [Matt 20:28] and He "...did not consider equality with God as something to be used for His own advantage" [Phil 2:6].
What He did do was assert that He was worthy to forgive sins, approach the Ancient of Days, sit with Him on the throne, receive glory and a kingdom that would last forever. In the ears of His contemporaries, He claimed to be the One who would one day be the judge of mankind, and for that He was crucified.

![If jealousy is condemned in Scripture [e.g. Prov 14:30; Jas 3:16], why is it one of God’s well-known qualities?
The answer lies in the meaning of jealousy: “feeling or showing an envious resentment of someone or their achievements, possessions, or perceived advantages.” When humans are jealous, it comes from a posture of ungratefulness and material and/or carnal desire. If we carry this around, we find ourselves unable to be content in the circumstances God puts us in [Phil 4:11].
Understanding the Gospel means understanding that all we deserve was put on Jesus on Calvary. We do not deserve the goodness of God, His provision, and His love, yet we still receive it. When our worship goes to an idol, God is robbed of something that is rightfully His. His jealousy is therefore not rooted in a lack of anything He didn’t deserve in the first place.
Man obtains good things by grace; everything God demands, He is more than worthy of.](https://scontent-lga3-2.cdninstagram.com/v/t39.30808-6/633931679_122120202909077831_6315687700638829600_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_e35_tt6&_nc_cat=101&ccb=7-5&_nc_sid=18de74&efg=eyJlZmdfdGFnIjoiRkVFRC5iZXN0X2ltYWdlX3VybGdlbi5DMyJ9&_nc_ohc=hvIyiG1pWqcQ7kNvwFR4xX8&_nc_oc=AdolwYl-Qh_GNJ87WWb40e2ILs3tcHYJWOBEEt8UPtPHZPwxXEwv9hKLQf6WwxHjGcw&_nc_zt=23&_nc_ht=scontent-lga3-2.cdninstagram.com&edm=ANo9K5cEAAAA&_nc_gid=9uKwGOgl9oxH7wCBJnGaNQ&_nc_tpa=Q5bMBQHIA1so9Q2iBe5n3LRK6J9WJxHSVnHiQULV3gtxAxhuFYvXrAn1fPZSvDqL-ENMHFGPyyNa3I0G&oh=00_AfyzrbF9uLvyLZu_st8SSzli50HoDMsJev8U31xQZjnGqw&oe=69C1F165)

![Why would God ask Abram to offer Isaac?
Imagine being so blessed that you lose trust in God. Strange as it sounds, Scripture shows us the dangers of relying on our blessings. “…what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal” [1 Cor 4:8]. Trusting in the Giver rather than the gift keeps us from relying on things that will one day perish.

![Jesus was committed to pointing His followers to their eternal destination.
Many of the things we treasure and work for are rooted in the earth: money, food, possessions, relationships, etc. Although none of these are inherently bad, everything we see around us is inconsistent and temporary [2 Cor 4:18].
The only consistent factor in life is God. If our eyes are fixed on Him rather than on earthly possessions, the enemy loses his leverage over us. We will not be shaken when we find ourselves lacking earthly riches, because we learn to be content in every circumstance [Phil 4:11–13].](https://scontent-lga3-3.cdninstagram.com/v/t39.30808-6/629336183_122119094679077831_2478960381374591545_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_e35_tt6&_nc_cat=102&ccb=7-5&_nc_sid=18de74&efg=eyJlZmdfdGFnIjoiRkVFRC5iZXN0X2ltYWdlX3VybGdlbi5DMyJ9&_nc_ohc=czisvlecdIEQ7kNvwE_czib&_nc_oc=Adry5gFh9fWe_5DiyEscfLY1jFZsGUTHrw6UHUInOlucv8cQ7rbjxfKC3O5Rj00pmus&_nc_zt=23&_nc_ht=scontent-lga3-3.cdninstagram.com&edm=ANo9K5cEAAAA&_nc_gid=9uKwGOgl9oxH7wCBJnGaNQ&_nc_tpa=Q5bMBQFDi2yALTb1TS0Feca26Nw0XW1VHMmk0S_U_z3-45J2dzChS1mBEUlIctImDNzdbMtLwBou6yYS&oh=00_Afzsl7oNQAhRHq-Ioa0Kq3Ooa75Trl-Z3ySp1A9iXr89Qg&oe=69C1F8B3)

![As servants of Christ, we are to carry on the circumcision law in a way that satisfies its spiritual meaning, rather than its physical act.
In our new covenant with God, we are circumcised in the circumcision of the Messiah by putting off the body of flesh [Col 2:11]. We cut off the desires of the flesh to live a life pleasing to Him; not in a way to earn our salvation, but because when we were dead in trespasses and in the uncircumcision of our flesh, He made us alive with Him and forgave us all our trespasses [Col 2:13]. He has called us to a higher purpose, releasing us from the sin that once enslaved us.
